After a total of 15 hours of waiting in line, myself and my friend met the five lads we had spent our teenage years obsessing over - albeit only for a few seconds, and pictures weren’t even allowed! Although I was there in a professional capacity, I felt just as excited to meet Horan as I had been when I was 15 years old and obsessed with One Direction. He has an innate humility that’s helped him not only to hang on to his fans from the One Direction days, but also build a new, wider audience as a solo artist. Not because he isn’t extremely talented - the 28-year-old is an accomplished singer, songwriter and musician - but because he’s a genuinely down-to-earth person. As he sat on a tiny, makeshift stage, playing an acoustic guitar in a Westmeath pub, it was hard to believe that Niall Horan was once a part of one of the world’s biggest boy bands, filling stadiums across the globe.
